Fiction is great for reading, but terrible for living!
A while back, we received an email from a friend named John. He’s a writer and an artist, and in his email he told of a horrible tragedy. Lisa and I were so saddened, and spent a good part of that day really upset and sorry for our friend’s loss. The problem was, we found out later that day something that taught us a huge lesson: John’s email was a story. It was fiction. It said so, right at the top in a line we both missed.
That's a funny story in retrospect, but many people live their whole lives in a fictional state, worried about things that are not and never have been true.
Here's how to start living in the truth, starting today!

Proverbs 12:25 Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down,
but a good word makes him glad.
Galatians 5:16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
1 Corinthians 15:31 I affirm, brethren, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily
Philippians 2:3-8 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Luke 22:42 "Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done."
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.
Matthew 10:39 “Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it."
2 Corinthians 10:5 “…we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
John 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
John 17:13 “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within you.”
